CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Miami Dade College's Julia Gurgel was named the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Gurgel, a sophomore forward from João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, tallied a total of seven points in two matches against FCSAA opponents.
She scored both goals, including a PK, in the Sharks' 2-1 win vs. No. 9 Eastern Florida State. Then, against Polk State, she was credited with the game-winner, and assisted on another goal, in a 3-1 victory.
On Tuesday, Gurgel was named FCSAA Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
