Seminole State claims women's district golf championship

ORLANDO, Fla. - Seminole State College won the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday.

The Raiders shot +32 during the two-day event, held at Mystic Dunes Golf Club, to claim one of two automatic bids to the NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship. 

Daytona State College grabbed the other AQ bid with a score of +43, two shots ahead of third-place Palm Beach State College (+45) and four shots clear of Eastern Florida State (+47). 

The Raiders posted a team score of +19 after the first day, holding a one-stroke lead over Palm Beach State. Daytona State, meanwhile, found itself in fourth place, scuffling to a +30. 

The Falcons, however, rebounded on day two, matching Seminole State's score of +13 to surge, and got the help they needed when Palm Beach State slipped to +25. 

Daytona State's Alana Kutt was the top individual finisher, posting a score of even par. 

Palm Beach State's Angelina Guertin was second with a score of +3. 

Asitha Ashok (+4) and Allison Seitz (+6), both of Seminole State, finished third and fourth, respectively, while Eastern Florida State's Ann Burel (+9) was fifth to claim a ticket to nationals as an individual. 

Palm Beach State, who is ranked eighth nationally, and Eastern Florida State, who is fifth, are in contention for an at-large bid to the NJCAA Championship event.
