TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - It was a good day all the way around for the FCSAA's men's golf teams, as district play concluded on Tuesday.
DII South District
In Oxford, Ala., Lake-Sumter State College's Kasen Schlichenmaier shot a closing round +2 to finish with a three-round total of +7, good for second place in the NJCAA DII South District Championship.
Although the Lakehawks missed out on an automatic bid to nationals with a sixth-place team finish, Schlichenmaier earned the opportunity to advance as an individual by finishing second.
Teammate Tripp Watkins tied for fifth with a score of +12.
DI Southeast District
After shooting even par through the first two rounds, Palm Beach State College had some margin of error heading into Tuesday's final round at the NJCAA DI Southeast District Championship.
The Panthers shot +6 on Tuesday, but it was enough to hold off Central Alabama Community College by six strokes to win their first district championship.
Eastern Florida State College finished third, 15 strokes back of Palm Beach State, as both teams earned automatic team bids to the NJCAA DI Men's Golf Championship.
Eastern Florida State's Jamie Smith posted the top individual score, finishing at two-under par. Palm Beach State's Nathan Wong tied for third at -1.
