TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has announced its Weekly Awards in Volleyball, Soccer and Cross Country.


FCSAA Weekly Awards (for all events September 8-14)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who excelled in competition during the previous week:

  • FCSAA DI Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week: Leyre Arroyo Sanchez, Eastern Florida State
  • FCSAA DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Mia McCurley, Daytona State
  • FCSAA DI Volleyball Setter of the Week: Eleonora Gicheva, Miami Dade
  • FCSAA DII Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week: Lovina Teel, St. Johns River State
  • FCSAA DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Joselyn Wanberg, Lake-Sumter State
  • FCSAA DII Volleyball Setter of the Week: Jessica Horn, St. Johns River State
  • FCSAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Cheick Dounkasse, Miami Dade
  • FCSAA Women's Soccer Player of the Week: Mia Johnson, Pensacola State
  • FCSAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Malik Millet, Pasco-Hernando State

Fall Sports Roundup

  • Volleyball
    • DI rankings: (1) Florida SouthWestern, (2) Miami Dade, (17) Eastern Florida State
    • DII rankings: (7) Gulf Coast State, (8) Pensacola State, (19) St. Johns River State, (21) Lake-Sumter State
  • Men's Soccer
    • DI rankings: (2) Eastern Florida State, (9) Daytona State
  • Women's Soccer
    • DI rankings: (1) Daytona State, (6) Eastern Florida State
    • DII: Pensacola State swept a weekend doubleheader from Pasco-Hernando State, winning 2-0 and 4-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the teams' regular season series to determine the FCSAA Division II Champion 
  • Golf
    • Men: Eastern Florida State's Jamie Smith won the individual title at the Wallace Kickoff Classic. After firing a 65 in the first round, the freshman shot a 76 in round two, finishing at 3-under for the tournament.
    • Women: Eastern Florida State's Ann Burel won the individual title at the Seminole State Fall Warm Up. The sophomore shot even part in the final round to finish 1-under for the tournament.
